As the days lengthen and temperatures rise, the sudden urge to spring clean your entire home may well hit. Spring is not just a season of beautiful new blooms and warm sunshine, but also an opportune time for a much-needed deep clean.

Pollen season has officially arrived, with millions of Brits preparing to spruce up their homes. It's estimated that over 90% of UK residents will engage in spring cleaning in the upcoming weeks.

There's something incredibly satisfying about refreshing your home with a thorough clean. However, it can quickly turn into a source of frustration when stubborn stains or marks refuse to disappear.

As the season changes, dust and dirt that might have previously gone unnoticed becomes more visible.

Luckily, cleaning expert Nicola Rodriguez, in partnership with Northerner, has shared expert tips for maximising your spring cleaning efforts and revealed clever budget-friendly hacks that will make you eager to get started.

Cleaning the fridge might not be high on everyone's priority list, but neglecting it could lead to some rather unpleasant surprises. A secret cleaning hack involves using a single 30p item from the fridge.

When gearing up for a deep clean, the expensive cleaning equipment available in stores can deter many people. However, natural cleaning products can be just as effective.

The acidity in lemons can cut through grease and grime without the need for costly products. Lemons can also be utilised in your washing machine drum and dishwasher, to clean on an empty cycle. For a mere 30p, this trick will leave your entire home smelling fresh and citrusy.

Cleaning expert Nicola Rodriguez shares: "The acidity in lemons can cut through grease and grime, without any pricey products."

There's nothing quite as gratifying as giving your windows a thorough clean. This chore makes your home appear brighter and cleaner but, sadly, it's not always straightforward.

Fingerprints, streaks and grime can all show up rather easily on your windows and it seems like no amount of wiping can keep them pristine for long.

Windows can be some of the most challenging things to clean due to the materials they are made from, their location and the type of dirt they attract. For instance, if you have tall or particularly high windows that are difficult to reach it becomes hard to achieve a streak-free clean. The glass can also become streaky if inappropriate products are used or if you attempt to clean the window in direct sunlight when the glass is warm.

For an effective homemade solution to clean windows try concocting a vinegar and water solution and cleaning with a microfibre cloth on a cloudy day to prevent rapid drying.

You'll end up saving money and as your home starts to receive more sunlight you won't be distracted by streaky marks across the windows.
